Fluffy Fluff

Sometimes, I have conversations with myself and they are not always just in my head.  I usually can't fall asleep right away at night, my brain has to unwind (aka over analyze).  Typically, the soap slips out of my hands at least once during my shower and I really have no problem peeing in the shower (don't pretend like you don't) because pee is sterile (also, no one uses it but me).  I can't have hair on my neck when I fall asleep, it has to be pulled up.  I don't like eggnog, candy corn, or peeps.  Reheated meat, I usually find, has a funny taste.  My favorite season is summer, I don't like winter, but I love Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Speaking of food, I've had intentions of writing on this topic for months and months and now it's finally happening!  I'm gonna build on details and then get to my main point so bear with me.

Some of my favorite things to eat include mac and cheese, Nutella, donuts, cookies, brownies, pizza, and ice cream.  If I could, I would live off of this stuff.  And I would love it!  If you were to really stop and think about it, A LOT (like, more than you think) of the foods we eat are what I call FLUFF.  It's really not REAL food.  Sure, it might look like food, smell like food, and even taste like food but it's not.  It's fake.  If it wasn't for all the ADDED ingredients, it would have no value as a product for human consumption and energy.  And sadly, this fluff will leave you full but NEVER nourished.

Oh, how the meaning and purpose of our lives so parallels this!  I mean THINK about it.  What are some of the common thoughts on how to spend our lives...?  Get a good job.  Raise a nice family.  Look good.  Be smart.  Make a decent amount of money.  Spend that money on things that make you happy.  Be entertained and entertain others.  All (or most) worthy goals but like fluff food, they never nourish your soul in and of themselves.  So what do we do, just spend more time making more money to be more entertained because we think that will make us more happy (I know, that's not the proper way to say it; I'm just using it to make a point).   And in the end, we fill ourselves full of fluff and we are left unsatisfied and our soul is empty and malnourished.  Unfortunately, (to continue with the food analogy) these things taste very, very good but dear reader, please never mistake them for the ultimate fulfillment and nourishment of our soul which can only be found in the Bread of Life, Jesus Christ, our Savior and Maker.  Let your soul find nourishment in Him and Him alone and continue to grow in grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Don't fill up on the FLUFF of this world and forfeit your soul...
