"Five more for me!"
Every season of Gilmore Girls is now on Netflix, as if I needed another reason to stay cozy at home...
If that's not bad enough I saw something on Facebook (clearly a true, reliable source) about Friends being added. My social life is officially over...
Speaking of Gilmore Girls, I haven't written about coffee in quite some time. I realized it's Lorelai and Rory's fault that I love coffee so much! Every time I watched them (first go-around of the series) I craved coffee whenever they had it and their undying enthusiasms must have rubbed off on me! Also, and more importantly, my mom would take us to get coffee as a special treat. So, it's really her fault, too!
Soooo, I've been trying to get back into running recently. It's been going better than I anticipated, actually. Except the part where I think I can justify eating anything I want. Anyway, I was running last night, nearly halfway done, and an elderly man sitting on the corner in a wheel chair said something to me. I didn't quite hear and asked him to repeat. He said, "Run five more for me!" then preceded to apologize for interrupting my run. I thought it to be very endearing and then nearly began to cry! I've never known what it to be like to know I will never run again, much less even walk. I teared up not just from that but from gratefulness that I have two fully functioning legs! Each working body part, every day, each moment, every breath, all we have is a generous gift from our loving Father! May we always remain grateful and never take for granted any of it. (I hope in the future when I'm bothered by my legs hurting I think of this man.)
I'm also reminded of a man who recently lost his leg while serving as a missionary in Papua New Guinea. If you would like to follow their story please go to theleedahls.com and please be praying for their family!
Well, I usually like to end this on a little higher note, but I don't think I will this time. Appreciate the easily taken for granted things in life.
