Squirrels, Sayings, and Sunsets.
Funny story, I only recently realized that squirrels make sounds. All my life I thought they were silent creatures. Come to find out, that's a lie. Not sure why I thought it, but they actually make squeaky little noises I always assumed were coming from birds...who knew??? (Everyone but me...)
So, I'm a nanny (which you might already know). Here's some funny things my kiddos (three year old girl and five year old boy) have said...
Me- "What's on your ear?"
Little Girl- "Here's the truth. I figured it out. I have pink stain on my ear."
Little Boy (after story time at the library)- "I should have told her* my name was Josh."
*the librarian.
Me- "Now I want pizza for dinner. No, I should eat something better than pizza. What's better than pizza?"
Little Girl- "Taco Bell!"
Maybe these don't translate as well written versus hearing them said. They are still great, though. I wish there was more from them I could remember but I honestly love all the innocently funny and ridiculous things they say!
I don't ever think I have been this excited for Christmas this early on in the year. Maybe the retailers (including my Starbucks) bringing all the things Christmas out already has me this way. I can already feel the Christmas cheer!
Nearly every other day I am fortunate enough to see the sunrise or sunset. Many mornings or nights the sky is filled with brilliant and striking colors of yellows, oranges, and reds. The other evening however was quite the opposite. The sky and clouds were purples, greys, and blues. It left me in just as much awe as the ones of vibrancy. Take from this what you will and make it as deep or simple as you would like. (I know, very post modern of me.)
Sometimes we do not need the bright and vibrant.
Sometimes it is the pastels and light shadows that we need.
The subtleties and soft quietness
The peace and tranquility it can give our souls
The gentle changes and soft fading from one shade to another
There is a deepness and richness in these cold pastels that is brought forth when the intensity of the warm colors has passed.
There is a beautiful stillness where a beautiful symphony once sounded.
There is complexity of simply one color that is brought forth where simply numerous colors once brought the complexity.
Sometimes, we do not need the bright and vibrant.
Sometimes, it is the pastels and light shadows that we need.
Don't overlook those simple, grey pastel sunsets.
